In-Process Quality Control

In-Process Quality Control (IPQC) is another layer of quality control that takes place during the production process.  IPQC is completed to ensure the production process and controls are operating as intended prior to completion of finished good.

Frequently asked questions

What is Design for Excellence (DFx)?

DFx consists of methods, guidelines, and standards for creating better quality products at the concept design phase.

What are the different types of Design for Excellence (DFx)?

Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Design for Testing (DFT)
Design for Assembly (DFA)
Design for Reliability (DFR)
Design for Cost (DFC)
Design for Packaging (DFP)

What is the typical timeframe of the DFx Process?

Depending on complexity, we can offer feedback on DFx within 1 week.

How can DFM improve product quality?

By simplifying the design and reducing the number of parts, DFM can minimize the sources of failure and the need for frequent maintenance.

Why is Design for Manufacturing (DFM) important?

DFM is important because it's about creating the process for the product as much as the product itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is Vertical Integration to Eastek?

It is a business model or strategy for Eastek to own its entire supply chain, which requires integration and expertise at multiple steps of its manufacturing process.

What are some of the key benefits to a vertically integrated manufacturing model?

Single point of contact and Single Margin. To streamline the operation and reduce cost, Eastek serves as a single point of contact to cover numerous steps within the supply chain.  Eastek's vertical integration relieves the pain and headache that result from having multiple contact points.

As a single margin contract manufacturer with vertical integration, Eastek charges a single margin for the collection of services being offered.  Rather paying a markup on molding, another on PCBA, and another margin on top of that, a single margin is paid for all of the processes combined.  This consequently reduces the cost of both the product and the supply chain management required to create the product.

What does Eastek offer when it comes to Vertical Integration?

From design and development, to full scale production and fulfillment, we offer everything from concept into a fully functioning device.

Some process example steps are:
- New product development engineering
- Molding / Overmolding
- Extrusion
- SMT / PCBA
- Complete Device Assembly
- Quality Engineering
- Packaging and Fulfillment

Why is Vertical Integration critical to business efficiency of a contract manufacturer?

With multiple vendors, timelines and dates can become difficult to plan for and meet.  A vertically integrated contract manufacturer are often capable of providing more accurate timelines and proficient at predicting and planning for the effects of the supply chain disruptions.  With the ability to communicate internally when issues arise, teams can work together to fix problems, in order to save time, money and resources.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the difference between Quality Assurance and Quality Control?

Quality Assurance (QA):Quality Assurance is a proactive approach that aims at preventing defects and maintaining customer satisfaction at the process level.

Quality Control (QC):Quality Control is a reactive approach which focuses on finding defects on the product itself.

What are the benefits of Quality Assurance and Quality Control in Manufacturing?

Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control Result Benefits:
- Consistency and Reliability
- Reduced risk
- Reduced scrap/cost/errors
- Higher Product Quality
- Meet customer delivery dates and project deadlines
- Maintain customer satisfaction
- Always improving

What sets Eastek's Quality apart from other manufacturers?

Quality is a culture at Eastek. Quality begins day one for us, and never stops being our top priority. Our planning, processes, and decisions are all built from the foundation that quality is first.

We are always pushing to meet or exceed our customer's expectations and requirements. Our continuous improvement efforts at Eastek are an endless journey. We are alway searching for further optimization and better solutions.

Eastek has experience producing top quality products for various industries. Our quality management systems are certified worldwide including ISO:9001:2015, ISO:13485:2016, IATF 16949:2016, ISO:14001:2015, ISO 45001 2018.

What does Eastek's Quality Assurance process look like?

Eastek's QA process stems from a four step cycle that is continuously used for consistent quality and improvement.

Step 1: Plan
- Identify project requirements and needs, set goals and timing, identify risks, identity resources, develop a solution and plan to carry out.

Step 2: Do
- Implementation on set project/need based on the documented plan. Includes training and standardization on the associated processes.

Step 3: Check
- Does the implemented solution work? Where goals and dates achieved?  Evaluate the results in terms of performance, and ensure performance sustainability.

Step 4: Act
- Understand root cause(s) on why solution didn't achieve targets/goals and establish another plan for improved solution.
- If all goals achieved, congratulate team on success.
- Even after project completion, Eastek continues to look for further improvements and optimizations following this PDCA cycle.

What does Eastek do to ensure we meet our customer's requirements and expectations?

It starts with communication. Eastek looks to be in constant communication with our customers to ensure your requirements and expectations are always clear.

Whether through periodic meetings, quarterly business reviews, scorecards, or customer satisfaction surveys, Eastek is always looking for feedback and always gauging where we stand in meeting our customer's requirements & expectations.  We continuously monitor our customer's satisfaction and adapt/adjust where needed to ensure customer satisfaction in maintained.
